Saddle Peak’s two summits—one topped by antennas and fenced off, the other barren but viewful—soar to an elevation of about 2800 feet. Both preside over a coastline that is only 2.5 miles away. During early morning in spring and early summer, the mountain often stands head and shoulders above a mock ocean of fog that shrouds the coast and sometimes smothers all but the higher ridges of the Santa Monica Mountains.
