Lake Peak, while not a small mountain, is tiny compared to her big sister, Mount Holly, which towers over everything to the north. But what Lake Peak loses in relative stature, she more than makes up for with excellent, accessible skiing from either Puffer Lake or the backcountry gates at Eagle Point Resort. Moderate ski shots fall from the peak on all aspects, but timing is critical as the Tushars’ notoriously high winds can scour the upper peak, leaving bare talus behind. No matter what the conditions, you’ll probably have to downclimb to the snow if you insist on bagging the summit before descending.
