The shortest backcountry ski tours in Farmington Canyon are found on Gold Ridge. This 2-mile-long shoulder has several skiable lines on her northeast face, but you can also ascend and descend the moderately angled ridgeline for a scenic skin up and down. Even closer to the trailhead, there are short tree shots with practically no approach on Point 7668. If you’re short on time, or just want to practice your skinning skills on Francis Peak Road, the Gold Ridge area is worth checking out as soon as Farmington Canyon opens for the summer, which happens sometime in April or May.
