Back when the country was new, if you wanted to move a lot of goods quickly and cheaply from one point to another, you moved it by boat. If there wasn’t a handy water route between the two points, often a water route was made by digging a canal. The D&R Canal is a great example of one of these canals and one of the few from this era that still holds water. Today, besides being used as a water supply, it also is a great recreation area with a great towpath that this ride will explore.

I've been cycling this trail for the last few years and I love it. The scenery is nice and the traffic (except for the weekends) is minimal. This trail actually starts all the way up in New Brunswick and then ends 100 miles later in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The elevation gain is minimal and it's overall a very flat trail. Excellent for cycling or if you just want to do an easy hike over a long distance.
