For roughly 8,000 years, Native American tribes called this area home. The Cascadia Cave provided shelter for many. Now, the state park serves as home for folks who are leisurely transients in nature. The popular campground and day-use area has a lot to offer. But waterfall lovers will want to make a beeline to a path that starts out paralleling the Cascadia Park Campground and quickly enters into old-growth forest with high-reaching canyon walls populated with Doug firs and western red cedars. Lower Soda Falls itself is a unique cascade that zigzags its way through a basalt crevice before leaping off its final 50-foot plunge. Follow the trail as it briefly skirts by the the campground, paralleling the creek. The trail climbs steadily through enchanting old-growth woods for .7 mile to Lower Soda Creek Falls.
