The southern shoulder of Mount Adams enables skiers to ascend the entire mountain without setting foot on crevassed terrain. The 4-mile-long ridge offers the hardy skier a 6,000-foot run! The only obstacle to complete enjoyment of this tour is exhaustion: after climbing to the summit, or even the false summit, few skiers will be at the top of their form. The United States Forest Service (USFS) has instituted registration and summit fee requirements for climbers, in addition to the Sno-Park fee requirement. Call the ranger station for road conditions. This tour was made for snowboarders! Difficulties: Low avalanche potential; route-finding required; permit/fee area.
