Rapid access, a scenic hike, and open slopes make the Rock Mountain tour delightful after an early season snowfall. The heather benches and smooth scree slopes require little snow to provide excellent skiing. In midwinter, larger quantities of snow make parking and the approach more difficult. This approach is continuously steep and exposed, and would be extremely hazardous in unstable snow. Carry an ice ax and crampons. Difficulties: High avalanche potential; permit / fee area.
