You can’t get there from here, at least on weekends. At the time of writing, the access road for this tour is open only during the week. On weekends, the road is gated at Mosquito Lake Road. This may change if a Nature Conservancy land purchase goes through. Until then, mountain bikes or motorcycles offer the only hope for weekend skiers who long to ski the 2,000-foot north side of Twin Sisters while looking Mount Baker in the eye. Skiers should be advised that logging roads, which may be closed at any given time, crisscross the area west of Twin Sisters. Be prepared to ferret out an alternate approach to this charming area. Difficulties: High avalanche potential; glacier travel; gate.
