The Mount Shuksan tour has, for some skiers, an aspect of pilgrimage. Barely visible from most lowland vantages (it can be seen from high places in Seattle), the mountain only reveals itself as you approach it more closely. Once on its icy south flank, you'll wonder how you ever got there, and how you’ll ever get back. The mountain lies within the North Cascades National Park. No pets are allowed. This is a popular tour. Difficulties: High avalanche potential; glacier travel; permit / fee area.
