Although not as easy to reach as the terrain to the east or west, these drainages boast outstanding bowl, chute, and glade skiing with plenty of avalanche history. For the Butler Fork Trailhead, drive 10 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon (BCC) Road and park on the plow-widened north shoulder where a Forest Service sign marks Butler Fork. For Maple Grove, exit on 3900 South off I-215 and drive 4 miles past the toll booth in Mill Creek Canyon to the spot where the winter maintenance ends. Many parties cache a vehicle here to make a one-way bi-canyon tour from Butler.
