Mount Lyell is the highest peak in Yosemite National Park, and its glacier is the second largest in the Sierra Nevada. This peak is frequently climbed in the summer but seldom visited in the winter. This is an ideal late winter/early spring backcountry tour and summit descent for those willing to spend a little extra effort to ski into this splendid high alpine region. The views from the summit are outstanding.
