To snowshoe a 7.0-mile section of this trail from Mars Hill to the Canadian border at Easton (Maine) and the River de Chute is to walk the line between two countries. A 2.0-mile section of the trail, dubbed the Border Trail, is the defining boundary between the United States and Canada.
From the top of the north end of Mars Hill, you can see as far as Katahdin on one side and into the rippling hills, fields, and valleys of Canada on the other. Throw in a rolling ridge line through hardwoods, and you’ve got an adventure. Surface quality: Ungroomed.
