Bethel is home to four cross-country ski areas, serving up miles of varied terrain along rivers, on valley floors, and into hills. Throw in the groomed trails of the local high school, Telstar, and a boarding school known for its ski programs, Gould Academy, and you’ve got a healthy mix. The two schools, which have ski teams, have more challenging terrain to better suit the student athletes. Still, in Bethel skiers and snowshoers can choose from the trails at Carter’s, the Sunday River Inn, Telemark Inn (reservations a must), and the Bethel Inn and Country Club. Surface quality: Groomed and tracked.

Pretty tame trail system, carefully groomed, without much elevation. Might be a good choice for beginners. I prefer the more challenging and rustic Carter's XC, a mile or so out of town.
