In winter, plump little chickadees and bright red cardinals peck leisurely at the feeders. Out in the meadow, secretive ring-necked pheasants hide in the low bush. Annually, the meadow is hayed in the waning days of summer. In winter, flocks of Canada geese forage under the snow for fuel to continue their flights. The woods, meadows, and salt marshes are home to the snowshoe hares whose tracks can be spotted all over the sixty-five-acre wildlife sanctuary. Eagle-eyed visitors might even see the white hares resting in their elusive hiding spots. Animals need to eat, and the red fox is no exception. By chance, they might be seen stalking their winter rations—voles, rabbits, and mice. Surface quality: Unpacked.
