Make sure your seatbelts are fastened for a ride on the South Ridge Loop at Mountain Meadows Cross-Country Ski Center in central Vermont. The undulating trail, which opened in December 1997, dances up, down, and around through the woods, by rounded mountains, and past huge boulders and includes a half-mile downhill with exhilarating hair-pin turns. Though the trail is virtually new, it has quickly become a favorite among more advanced skiers and may also evolve into the network’s banner run. Surface quality: Groomed, single tracked, skate lane.
