The adage what goes up must come down was never more true than at the Edson Hill Manor XC Touring Center. The 15 miles of trails have something for every level of skier, but for those wanting to exert themselves just a little, the rewards are winter views of two mountain ranges and a long, scintillating collection of downhill stretches that may leave you wondering why anyone would want to ride a high-speed quad to the top of any hill. Snowshoers are welcome on the entire trail network, which encompasses parts of the 225-acre estate. The trails meander over meadows, up a ridge, and through the silent, peaceful forest. All of the trails are classically tracked except the upper sections, which usually aren’t. Skaters may not get their fill here, but those who like to tour should. Surface quality: Groomed for skate and classic skiers.
