What a name—and one that indicates what an excellent experience awaits you here. Chosen because of its location in a national forest, the trail system offers five loops for traditional Nordic pursuits, along with two for skaters. It’s one of the most beautiful and well marked in the Upper Peninsula as it winds through pine-covered dune ridges that probably were once lakefront when Lake Michigan was much higher. It’s a treat to have this system in Michigan.
