This trail has a downhill section that is so well liked it was given its own name. Of course, to be able to take that downhill section, you first have to make the gradual climb. Still, this gradual climb offers great views of the Cottonwood Valley and the Red Rocks Escarpment, making the climb well worth the trip. This ride follows two trails, Badger Pass and 3 Mile Smile, to create an enjoyable, easily accessible loop. The trail starts on the southwest side of the parking lot. Here you’ll find a small dirt trail that makes its way toward the asphalt road that leads to the parking lot. Cross the asphalt road and head into the wash towards the tunnels. Go through the tunnels, passing under State Route 160. The tunnels are divided into three tunnels and the center tunnel is the one most commonly used; however, you can use any one of the three.
