One of the reasons to run the Mesa Trail is its off-leash, dog-friendly policy. Beyond the ability to enjoy time with your unrestrained four-pawed companions, this is an ideal candidate for beginning trail runners due to the gentle terrain, with less than 100 feet of elevation change. The trail also provides multiple access points to more technical routes for the seasoned trail-running veteran. The sweeping vista of the Pikes Peak massif, visible to the west throughout the 2-plus mile loop, along with views of downtown Colorado Springs and the Garden of the Gods in the distance, make this a spectacular spot.
