This loop can be run either clockwise or counterclockwise; the counterclockwise direction is described here. From the parking lot, the trail follows the very steep dirt service road to the top of the mesa. This is the steepest part of the entire run, and it only lasts for 0.6 mile. Once on top of the mesa, the North Table loop turns right (south) and continues on the dirt service road past an old quarry and two climber access trails.
