This lollipop loop takes the Bitterbrush Trail to the upper Nelson Loop Trail for a rolling ascent to the elevated meadow at the heart of Hall Ranch, in a mixed ecosystem of grasslands, shrubby hills, and forested areas with pine, ponderosa, and Douglas fir. Beware of rattlesnakes, the only wildlife that pose a threat during the hotter months. From the upper parking lot follow Bitterbrush Trail up for the first mile, and then enjoy a short drop into a valley. Head up from there, ascending through a meadow, where the trail gets pretty rocky and climbs more dramatically for almost 2 miles before some relief.
