Activity Type: Sea Kayaking
Nearby City: Crapo
Distance: 6.6-8.0 nautical mi
Skill Level: Easy
Hazards/Cautions: Purple Trail is about one-third marsh and the rest open water. Much of the water is very shallow, so it’s important to stay on the trail to avoid getting stuck in the mud. Check the wind direction and speed before deciding which way to paddle on the trail. Paddling against the wind will make for slow progress on this route since the open water is shallow and waves can kick up with just a stiff breeze. Winds coming from the northwest make for the most difficult paddling in the refuge.
