Activity Type: Sea Kayaking
Nearby City: Red Bank
Distance: 2.5-7.0 nautical mi
Hazards/Cautions: The water can get rough at the eastern end of the Navesink River, where it flows into the Shrewsbury River. There are strong currents at the confluence of the rivers, as the water funnels into Sandy Hook Bay, making the area potentially very hazardous. This is also an area of heavy boat traffic on nice days. Unless you are a very experienced paddler, it is best to stay upstream from this turbulent part of the river.
