This loop is one of my favorite excursions in central Pennsylvania. At just shy of 6 miles, it is a manageable length for the whole family. The first mile of the hike consists of a moderate ascent of 600 feet up to the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) on the ridge of Sharp Mountain, and the rest of the hike is downhill.
