The Vista Point Loop is a relatively wild experience in a Recreation Area that caters to several uses in addition to hiking. The heavily used trail offers a moderate incline and a rewarding view. The journey begins by traversing the big meadow from the trailhead. The trail eventually works into a hillside covered in ponderosa pines and after a few switchbacks summits an unassuming knoll with incredible views of the Missoula Valley and surrounding mountains. The region is a restoration success story after decades of mismanagement.
