The Cherry Gulch Loop combines the Cherry Gulch Trail with the North Hills Ridge Trail. The Cherry Gulch section of the hike is incredibly scenic and serene. It’s often hard to imagine that a thin ridgeline separates you from Missoula. At the head of Cherry Gulch, the trail climbs up to the ridgeline at the site of the old peace sign. The final 1.0 mile will take you down the North Hills Ridge Trail with a bird’s-eye view of Missoula. A spur trail leads to the current peace sign that is visible over Missoula 0.1 mile before reaching the trailhead. The beginning of this trail may be rerouted in the near future.
