Big Spencer Mountain’s open summit offers fine views in every direction. The trail, being an old fire warden’s trail, is steep and rocky but mercifully short. About halfway up the mountain the trail passes the site of the fire warden’s cabin; just beyond the clearing is an active beaver flowage with a high dam that the trail skirts around.
