Ryerson is a pleasant hike in a small park. If you’re looking to get away from the crowds and want to spend a day exploring nature and soaking up local history, this is the hike for you. The hike consists of a series of short climbs up extremely steep hollows. A 300-year-old wolf tree greets you on your first ascent to an overlook 400 feet above the park. Follow a mowed pathway alongside a lake inlet and into a meadow, where the vegetation is more than 6 feet high. Scan the inlet for the great blue heron, explore a bluebird box trail, and visit an old family cemetery.
