This hike is in the heart of the Laurel Highlands region of the Allegheny Mountains. There are two highlights: the blooming mountain laurel and Wolf Rocks, an out- cropping of boulders along the edge of Laurel Summit that provides an impressive view of Linn Run Valley and Chestnut Ridge. If you choose, there is also a short side trip—after the hike—to Spruce Flats Bog. Laurel Summit State Park lies within the 58,000-acre Forbes State Forest. Comprising a mere 15 acres, Laurel Summit State Park basically constitutes the area surrounding Wolf Rocks Trail. Nearby are three other Laurel state parks: Laurel Mountain, Laurel Hill, and Laurel Ridge. The other Laurel parks are considerably larger, and it’s easy to get these parks confused.
