This trail has a downhill section that is so well-liked, it was given its own name. Of course, to be able to take that downhill section, you first have to make the gradual climb. Still, this climb offers great views of the Cottonwood Valley and the Red Rocks Escarpment, making it well worth the trip. This ride follows two trails, Badger Pass and 3 Mile Smile, to create an enjoyable, easily accessible loop. The trail starts from a paved parking lot on the north side of SR 160 and heads under SR 160 to the other side of the road. This version of the ride doesn’t follow the entire Badger Pass Trail, mainly because taking the route as outlined in this guide offers easy access from the parking lot.
