This ride follows a natural wash that makes its way through the valley on its way to Lake Mead. The beautifully landscaped trail offers more than just a bike ride down an asphalt road. And as you make your way down the trail, it’s hard to believe you’re in the heart of the desert. In my opinion, this is one of the best laid-out trails in the entire valley. The trail follows a cement wash called Pittman Wash. A wash is a water channel that is filled with water at certain times of the year. The purpose of the Pittman Wash is to provide a safe passage for water runoff generated after a storm. The trail makes great use of an area that would otherwise be left vacant. It is also constructed in such a way as to avoid a steep climb no matter which direction you travel. This is even more impressive when you realize the trail changes 264 feet in elevation from start to finish.
