The Topanga Puku Pawahe—translated from the Gabrielino/Tongva language as “Topanga One Six,” in reference to the length of the ride—is a 16.75-mile mountain bike loop into the Santa Monica Mountains above Pacific Palisades in far western Los Angeles. The ride climbs from 66 to 2,048 feet (and back down, of course). Just under two- thirds of the route is on dirt fire roads, with the remainder on paved roads.
