The Verdugo Mountains Perimeter Ride circumnavigates the Verdugo Mountains rather than penetrates them. While there are no 10% climbs and 11% descents, as in the panorama ride, the perimeter ride offers its share of challenges along the undulating roads of the Verdugo foothills. The ride begins at Verdugo Park in Glendale and then passes through Burbank and Los Angeles before returning to Glendale.
Verdugo Park has a place on the local cycling calendar, with its annual Thanksgiving weekend cyclocross races. The park roads, grassy areas, dirt trails, and a sand pit are transformed into a technical cyclocross circuit that competitors must complete several times during a race. For this ride, exit Verdugo Park, turning right onto Cañada Boulevard.
