An island hike past stately homes, over a narrow ridge with ocean views on both sides, and around a rocky point with views of the open ocean. The short walk around the tip of Pendleton Point rivals any of the more famous coastal areas for majestic scenery.
Warren Island State Park, near the west side of the island, offers rustic camping in a pristine environment. It can only be reached by boat. General location: Opposite Lincolnville Beach in Waldo County, midcoast Maine.
