Trails through open fields, woodlands, and along the Presumpscot River estuary in a sanctuary maintained by the Maine Audubon Society. Gilsland Farm is a diverse natural community. The visitor center is the site of nature-related exhibits. The reading library and conference room contains a large collection of mounted specimens of Maine birds and mammals, including several extinct species. The teacher's resource center loans a wide variety of materials dealing with environmental topics, and the Maine Audubon store sells a variety of items dealing with the environment and Maine's natural history. The Goduti Wildlife Garden, near the visitor center, is designed to attract birds and small mammals. A brochure describes the garden and gives tips on landscaping for wildlife. This hike is perfect for families with children. The walking is easy, and the educational materials available provide a wealth of natural history information. General location: In Falmouth, just a few miles north of Portland in Cumberland County

a nice walk with kids, great views and birdwatching - we took a jog stroller and a toddler for a nice mother's day walk and picnic lunch.
