The Wells Reserve is an old Maine saltwater farm. The hikes here cover fields, forests, salt marches, and beaches. A visitor center offers brochures, trail maps, various exhibits, a slide show, and guided tours of the trail system. Guided tours are offered daily and require reservations.
A calendar of special events such as wetland tours, bird walks and bandings, and wildflower tours is available. This hike, like the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge trail, is highly recommended for families with children. A portion of the Laird-Norton Trail is barrier-free. General location: Between Wells and Kennebunkport in York County.
