This is a very nice hike, though we did go up the steeper way. The trail is somewhat steep in 3-4 places, and was very wet in June. I have also been up in the winter and we had to contend with some very slick icy sections where frozen water covered granite ledges. The views are panoramic to the South and a bit occluded to the East and West. The surrounding wilderness areas to the East and West also have some public trails up smaller nearby hills, but I have not yet been on any of them. Wear bug spray in the warm months to ward off biting blackflies and mosquitos. See http://www.greatpondtrust.org/ for a local trail map and visiting guidelines.
