The Camp Lake basin is one of the most gorgeous scenes in all of Central Oregon. While the Pole Creek Fire in 2012 marred much of the lower forests, the higher alpine areas were unaffected. Camp Lake is one of several high-altitude watering holes that make up Chambers Lakes. It sits directly underneath the South and Middle Sisters, providing incredible views of both peaks. Camp Lake is a great overnight spot, as its name implies. But it’s also a great destination for a long day hike, so pack a lunch and make it an all-day excursion.
