It’s remarkable that this area didn’t get burned by recent fires. The Pole Creek burn stopped just short of the lake area, allowing the beautiful habitat to remain intact. This itsy alpine lake sits underneath spectacular Tam McArthur Rim and is hidden among the trees not far from the larger and more accessible Three Creek Lake. While it’s not the official trailhead, Driftwood Campground’s backyard is a great place to begin your hike. Start with a brief and soft uphill stretch from the parking loop. Don’t worry—this is the steepest part of the hike. The rest of the trail is seriously nonthreatening, with nothing more than a few gentle ups and downs.
