How can a trail be saved and endangered at the same time? The Whychus Creek area has seen many alterations over the past few years. Some have been negative, such as when vandals disturbed scenic riparian areas by displacing several large boulders. These actions are certainly unfortunate, but they pale in comparison to the positive ones. The Deschutes Land Trust, the Forest Service, local Bureau of Land Management, and hardworking volunteers are dedicated to keeping this area beautiful and usable. Between land being added to the Whychus Canyon Preserve, dams being removed for fish migration, and new trails being added, the area is flourishing. This hike follows one of the newer trails to Logjam Falls--a pretty little waterfall nestled not far up the creek.
