It’s a great little zip of a ride, incorporating graded gravel (generally good, but occasionally rather deep and unconsolidated), rough double-track, sand, slickrock (sometimes smooth, sometimes ledgy), and a wonderful stretch of single-track teeming with mini S-curves. Aerobically, the ride is rated moderate, while technically, it’s somewhere between moderate and difficult. If you keep your eyes peeled, you may encounter road runners and huge desert tortoises, which are a real surprise when you first see them. Keep a close watch for marks on the slickrock and for cairns, as well, because parts of the trail are quite challenging to follow. General location: Two miles northeast of Washington. which is just northeast of St. George.
