This 17.5-mile ride is neither distinctive nor memorable enough to justify a dedicated trip to Green River just to experience it. However, if you’re passing through anyway—as many Moab-bound cyclists are—the aerobically and technically easy outing offers a good warm-up to the generally much more challenging rides surrounding the undisputed mountain biking capital of the free world. On the ride you will pedal through classic, “beautiful in its own way” surroundings; countryside that is rather desiccated and Mars-like. It’s terrain that few could love other than a geologist, but it offers an agreeable introduction to Canyonlands all the same.
