This 13-mile out-and-back ride (6.5 miles each way) is easy both physically and technically. It traverses a flat desert plateau en route to the Wedge Overlook, a spectacular vista looking several hundred feet down on the canyon of the San Rafael River, where rock, colored in various hues of red, has been sculpted into a labyrinth of sheer walls and buttes. Before leaving Castle Dale, by the way, you should take in the interesting Museum of the San Rafael.) General location: 14 miles east of Castle Dale.
