This area is part of that Oakland County ethic to intersperse recreational land in amongst the farmland and residential enclaves. It’s wonderfully glacial, with rolling hills and small lakes and marshes scattered about the region. There’s an interesting transition going on in this area, with residential properties increasing as farmland gets purchased for housing, but there’s still plenty of farming going on. That, along with the recreation areas and natural features, helps the area retain its rural, wooded character. This route winds through all of that. It offers a good workout or a good respite from the busy world, or both, as it touches that need to be close to forests, remember where our food comes from, and, if we’re lucky, see a few large wild birds fly over our heads as we pedal down the road.
