Before venturing forth by bike, take a walk onto the footbridge that reaches across the Huron River. The various crew clubs, including University of Michigan’s Crew Team, practice along this stretch of water. Sculls glide sleekly beneath the bridge and up or down the river at a deceptively brisk pace. This ride is close to downtown Ann Arbor yet reaches quickly into the countryside where it feels miles from any urban area. It’s hilly, as it passes through the glacially shaped area of the county.
