Lynn and Marblehead are two favorite destinations along the North Shore, their beaches, coastline, and small-town charm a perennial draw for Bostonians. This ride follows the main drag of the Lynn Shore to the Marblehead Rail-Trail, around the jaw-dropping Marblehead Neck and up to the tip of Marblehead at Fort Sewall. From popular sandy beaches to more secluded lighthouses and yachts by the score, you’ll take in all the best parts of the North Shore life! Start at the Lynn Heritage State Park, along the Lynnway. One of the smaller cities of Massachusetts, Lynn was fi rst settled by Europeans in 1629. The boot in the city’s seal is an homage to the leather tanning and shoemaking industry for which the city was once renowned. The boots worn by the Continental army during the Revolutionary War were manufactured by cobblers from Lynn, and the city remains a minor industrial center today.
