Henry David Thoreau’s famous retreat to Boston’s north continues to draw revelers each summer, who flock to Walden Pond to swim, fish, boat, and picnic. This ride leads from Cambridge Common in Harvard Square through the picturesque towns of Belmont, Lexington, Waltham, Lincoln, and Concord. A number of challenging hills along the wooded route make reaching Walden Pond Reservation that much sweeter. Its serene shores and surrounding woodlands are just as peaceful and contemplative today as they were in more Transcendental times.
