The almost 1,700 acres of coastal lands managed by the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) were incorporated into the California Coastal National Monument as the “?rst shoreline unit” in the system of national monuments. Stornetta is an amazing windfall of coastal access for hikers. This hike samples a slice of Stornetta’s oceanfront tablelands on cliffs overlooking unusual surf-sculpted arches with wave-worn tunnels through the sea stacks and tidepools on the eroded rocky shelves.
