This year-round waterfall and its upper cascades are surrounded by a haunting woodland burned in the historic Arch Rock Fire. Foresta Falls is not an iconic Yosemite waterfall, nor is its setting classic Yosemite stunning. But it drops through a tortured landscape that is eerily moving and tells a story unlike any other. It’s the story of fire. This area has seen its share of fiery fury, as evidenced by the recovering woodland surrounding the community of Foresta. Fire blew through in 1991, devastating the area; the cabins now on the ground were built in the aftermath of that blaze. Fires threatened again in 2009 and 2011.
