A pleasant trail winding through oak woodland leads to this seasonal waterfall. One of several seasonal waterfalls in Novato-area open space parks, the no-name waterfall in the Indian Valley Open Space Preserve is reached via a pleasant loop hike with some of the friendliest switchbacks you’ll ever encounter on a trail. It’s a modest little fall, only about 25 feet high and entirely fed by rainwater (which means it’s typically dry by summertime), but the loop trail that leads past the fall is a pleasant immersion in a pocket of oak woodland. The route begins by climbing past the gardens of the Indian Valley campus of the College of Marin to Pacheco Pond. The pond is small and reed-lined, with mallards and other waterfowl enjoying the year-round water source. This makes a nice, short-hike destination in itself.
